We went on a little weekend trip recently and the place we were staying at had nice big apple trees out back. Even though we have a few already at home, I couldn't help but pick a cooler full for our trip home. They are huge and gorgeous, so I decided I would can a bunch.
After hymning and hawing over what I wanted to do, I started thinking about doing apple pie filling but my canning cookbook with over 400 recipes, only had 2 and they just had too many ingredients and I wanted something a bit more simple. Then I stumbled upon a recipe on Pintrest and it seemed perfect!
I have not canned many time before but I am working on canning more, so this was a good starting point.
So, yesterday I spent the whole day in my kitchen and I successfully canned 14 quarts of apple pie filling. The recipe is great!
I think there will be many possibilities with these and I completely recommend this recipe and its simple with few ingredients. Now to make batches of pie crust!

The first thing I made with the pre-made filling was apple pies for Easter dinner. I didn't pre-plan very well and didn't have all the ingredients for crust. So i grabbed some pre-made crust. Got those ready, put my pie filling in and baked according to the directions, or until cooked throughout and easy as pie, the pie was done!
